John Patience

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2010.

At age 17 with the love of trucks and all things mechanical calling him, John bought his first truck a Ford F600 and the Patience name in bulk transport was born.
His hunger for the industry grew and in 1988 he bought his first brand new truck, a Kenworth T650 prime mover (22 years later the company still operates that same trusty vehicle) to haul Talc to Geraldton about a 1400km round trip.
The rough terrain of the W.A. outback roads pushed the equipment to its limits. Maintenance was a big thing and in those days John did his own. The weather played a big part in those early days, above 50 degrees during the summer months, and rain on unsealed roads during the winter. Not a great place to be stuck in the bog for days until things dried out, eating tin food. A good truckie in those days always carried a food supply. Good times, bad times and pure hard work have made the business what it is today and the company grew from sheer determination, service and reliability. John is the proud owner of a fleet of 85 trucks, 225 trailers and 115 dollies, along with numerous other associated plant, servicing the mining, construction and agricultural industries. Not in a million years did John ever think he would be the proud owner of such a large successful business when he bought his F600, some 44 years ago. John and Nola's sons, Michael and Paul, are now the second generation of truckies and are actively involved in the business with a staff of about 150. Many long term employees affectionately call John, POPPY.
Although based in Geraldton the Patience name can be seen just about anywhere in the outback and remote areas of the largest state: W.A.
