Christopher Pastyn

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2008.

Christopher (Chris) Pastyn, born 23rd October, 1943, of Polish descent, grew up in SA.  His father was a truck owner-driver and at the age of 12 years Chris began enjoying trips with his dad who was filling and shifting Ampol on the Hay Plains.
It was during this time that Chris knew he was going to be a truckie.  At the young age of just 16 he obtained his licence and drove for his father.  The family then moved to Adelaide.
Chris travelled far and wide across Australia driving his father's AB International and earning the nickname of 'Truckin'.  He did such a great job his father let him drive his B61 Mack, which at the time was the newest truck of which Chris had been in charge.  During the coming years he travelled through cities, country towns and more bush track than he can remember.  Chris went on to become an owner-driver himself and thus began his love affair with all things Kenworth.  After spending most of his life on the road he was forced to retire due to a back disability.
During these years he began to become known for carrying his guitar everywhere and being happy to "do a few songs".  He went on to record the trucking album 'Truckie's Lucky Day'.  This album was sponsored by Kenworth Trucks Australia.  Chris took the stage name of Truckin' Stevens.
After injury forced him from driving rigs he played with many country bands and artists across Australia.  Eventually he settled in Tamworth where he is a noted musician and vocalist who owns the Big Wheel recording studio.
Now in retirement he is known to all in the industry as Chris Truckin' Stevens.
