Terry Robertson

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2012.

Terry Robertson was born to drive. Whether he is behind the wheel of his Freightliner, or one of his championship-winning, open wheel racing cars, he does it all for the love of driving. In 2012 Terry is 64 years old and has been driving for 34 years and has ten million kilometres behind the wheel. For all this time he has been an owner driver with his own prime mover, his own trailers and he has carried out all his own maintenance.
Over time Terry has owned a plastic cab Atkinson and a series of Kenworths. Terry's current truck is a B-Double Freightliner named the Wallabadah Express after his home town near Tamworth in NSW. For the last ten years he has worked for Troy Wallace from NQX of Newcastle and for Doug Richardson from NQX in Port Kembla. Terry travels weekly from NSW to far north Queensland hauling for the mines and the food industry.For the 20 year period from 1980 to 2000 Terry operated roadtrains to Perth, Kalgoolie, Kidston gold mines, Leigh Creek and Roxby Downs. He was an inaugural member of the Australian Roadtrain Association and fought long and hard for better access in NSW for roadtrains.Terry has made lots of friends in the industry such as Donny Smith and his sons Ross and Ashley, Les Thompson and Brett Bayliss. For Terry it is the people in the industry that makes it special. He finds that the best part of his job today is working with his son Warwick. Terry is a proud father of the next generation of truck drivers.
