Ronald Stocks

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2013.

Ronald (Ron) Stocks grew up with his older brothers working in the trucking industry. It is little wonder that he too wanted to become a truck driver.  His first real job in the industry came in 1972 when his brother Robert got him a job at Fleet Express.  However, his truck driving career didn't really begin in earnest  until he was 19 years old and got a start driving a Peterbilt for Snell's Transport in Melbourne.

After spending many years with Snells, Ron changed to driving a container fork for Universal Transport and later TCS. When he returned to truck driving, Ron worked for many years with Toll before carting for Franklins Supermarkets with Brooks Transport.  

At about 28 years of age Ron decided to go into business for himself and purchased his first truck, an International tray truck and subcontracted to Sartori's Transport for the next three years. He then returned to Toll for another few years and later subcontracted for various companies such as Butlers, Bunkers, Stocks Transport, ASG and Josie's, just to name a few. At this time he owned a Ford LTL.  

Ron later bought an Aerodyne Kenworth and Freightliner  Argosy and spent many more years on the road working locally and interstate. He particularly enjoyed pulling extendables in Adelaide and Sydney for Rodans Transport.

Ron has been a part of the trucking industry for the past forty years and will continue into retirement along with his four brothers who are also truck drivers. Ron is now taking it a little easier  carting local containers and fondly recalls the great people he met along the way.
