Frank Saulle
Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2012.
Frank Saulle is 58 years old and operating the transport company, F&J SAULLE PTY LTD, out of Bruthen Victoria with his wife Janet and son Jeremy.
Frank has three trucks based in a Sydney depot which he shares with his other son Damien and his wife Sonya, who operate the company Gippsland Direct. Both companies work in conjunction with each other hauling freight interstate and intrastate carrying general and timber. Frank owns nine trucks in total, and with Damien's it makes an even ten.
Frank bought his first truck 35 years ago. Often he speaks of a Fiat truck he had with a 17 litre motor. He brags about how economical it was and its pulling power. During the last 35 years Frank has seen many changes within the industry and one that he often speaks of is,
Back in the day if you blew a tyre or broke down, someone would always pull over to lend a hand; often more than one bloke would stop which sometimes turned a quick tyre change into a lengthy catch up.
Frank has a very friendly manner and always has a smile on his face.
Internationals have always been his thing and he still runs two old S-lines today although they've been around the block a few times. They've had the old Cummins replaced with newer ISM engines. He often reminisces of the day he bought his brand new Big Cab T-line with a whopping 350 Cummins and a 15 speed overdrive in it. She was a BIG TRUCK! he says. Frank has no real loyalty to any specific truck these days as his fleet now consists of Sterlings, Ivecos, Isuzu, Kenworths and the trusty old S-lines running all of the major engines. Frank's loyalty has, and always will be, devoted to his customers, many of whom have been his clients for twenty years and over, and his respected and appreciated family and staff.
Frank is still driving full time and regularly runs the Hume Freeway. Franks wife Janet handles the administration and Jeremy takes care of yard work. F&J SAULLE is a family run company where every employee and their families are treated as an extension of Frank and Janet's family.
