Malcolm Fox

Malcolm Fox was born in Streaky Bay South Australia in May 1953 to parents Noel and Valerie Fox, the youngest of four children. Malcolm's father Noel began a general freight service from Adelaide to Streaky Bay in the mid 1940s and upon leaving school in his early teens, Malcolm joined NW Fox & Sons working alongside his brother Ian. In the 1940's most of the roads in the area were dirt and unformed. A trip from Adelaide to Streaky Bay took 12 hours.
In 1980 Malcolm branched out on his own with his wife Elizabeth to operate a fuel distributorship for BP, until transferring to the Shell Company as cartage contractors in the mid 1980's. This company was known as Fox Petroleum Pty Ltd. In 1988 Malcolm bought his family's general freight business from his brother Ian, and pioneered the introduction of road trains carting bulk, general and fuel products in the western region of South Australia. Malcolm by now well understood the productivity of using multi combination vehicles. Malcolm renamed the business Fox Freightlines Pty Ltd in 2007 and the business has successfully grown from one prime mover to nine. Malcolm has owned over 100 trucks including Scanias, Volvos and Western Stars.
During his time in the industry, Malcolm has become well respected and has built a strong rapport with many acquaintances and colleagues. Some of Malcolm's career highlights include running a successful transport business with 22 employees and distributing fuel for Logicoil, BP, Shell, Caltex, Toll and Mobil all over South Australia. Malcolm was a member of the Heavy Vehicle Industry Forum Parliamentary Advisory Committee and was presented with a Life Membership to the Streaky Bay Tourist Association for providing in-kind and financial support. Malcolm was also a keen supporter and advocate of children's charitys and sponsored and participated in four consecutive Variety Club Bashes during in the 1990's.
Over the years Malcolm and Elizabeth have given much to Streaky Bay and the surrounding communities and have been generous sponsors of many community events ranging from football and netball and other sporting groups, to district schools and the local racing club. A well respected and generous employer, many of Malcolm's drivers have returned to his employment time and again. With a career spanning over 40 years Malcolm has many achievements of which he can be proud. He is a humble man, always at the ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and is known as a fair dinkum mate.
