Peter Mostran

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2004.

Peter Mostran is an ideal nomination for the Wall of Fame because of his lengthy and dedicated service to the road transport industry. His leadership and professionalism in improving standards and safety, along with his commitment to have the importance of the industry recognised, are above the call of duty.
Peter's interest in the transport industry started when he was a young boy of seven years helping out his father's fuel distribution business by cleaning and loading drums of fuel onto the old Bedford trucks that did the deliveries.Peter later became an engineer before the call to return to the family business. His engineering degree did not go to waste. He used these skills to design and construct specific purpose-built equipment able to withstand the rigors of transporting fuel around the roughest terrain in the central and western regions of Australia. Peter's involvement as a fuel distributor and transport operator has evolved over the last thirty years to include an impressive fleet of 35 roadtrains operating both on and off the bitumen. The fleet, at various times, has been made up of Kenworth, Mack and Volvo. Managing a transport business in such a remote area demands that equipment is well-maintained and staff well-trained. Peter's vast experience in this field has seen him called upon to test many other companies' equipment. His Fatigue Management System for the well-being and safety of drivers has been accredited nationally, ensuring better safety standards for the industry as a whole. Peter has been involved in the N.T. Road Transport Association as president and a committee member for many years.Peter Mostran is a very private man and does not seek recognition for what he does; he is committed to his family, his business, the community and the road transport industry. Peter and Jenny Mostran sold their business in 2006.
